I like living life out loud. Right now. Creativity is a way of life for me. It does take courage but I can’t seem to resist – besides, I’ve found that the benefits outweigh the fear. Art expresses my emotion in a way that leaves me satisfied and connected. Creating art is not an option for me, it is essential.
Since I’m curious by nature, mixed media works best for me. I’m not hemmed in by what to use – whether it be canvas and paint, wood and wax, or dried leaves from the yard. I don’t consider techniques an obstacle either and I use them all – as well as make some up! Outside the box is my motto.
I’m also easily inspired. Sometimes a certain color provokes an idea or a found object begs to be repurposed into a new life. I love trying new things and am not too caught up in whether it is a success or not. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder anyway, right? The journey is what is important to me.
Author and artist Patti Digh says “If you are alive, you are creative”. I just love that. So true. I like to share my art so that people can see something in themselves they didn’t see before, or maybe, just see it in a different way.
